his
original collection utilizes a unique mixed media combination
of natural elements including recycled wild animal hides, bone,
antlers and shells to present powerful spiritual images of mankind.
The three dimensional painted leather images strongly reflect
the artist's Cuban heritage and decades long association with
the Ojibwe of the Lac Courte Oreilles reservation in northwestern
Wisconsin. This powerfully exploratory series in the life, death
and spiritual cycle of mankind evolved after the artist was
given an Ojibwe name and guardian spirit by the late Lac Courte
Oreilles spiritual leader James 'Pipe" Mustache. |
